Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on September 8 on charges of procurement of drugs. The NCB is probing the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Rhea's brother, Showik, and Sushant Singh Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda were also arrested by the NCB earlier. Rhea and Showik are currently in judicial custody. Their bail pleas were rejected by the Sessions court yesterday.

HOW DID NCB TIGHTEN ITS NOOSE AROUND RHEA?

According to sources, when the NCB was probing the accounts of Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager Samuel Miranda and cook Dipesh Sawant, a transaction from Rhea’s card came under their scanner. The payment was made to a drug peddler for budd. According to sources, Showik had sent Samuel Miranda to a drug peddler a few months ago for purchasing budd. However, Samuel had forgotten to take cash with him. When he reached there, he called up Showik Chakraborty and asked him to pay the peddler. After this, Showik asked Samuel to make the payment from Rhea’s card. Since Rhea Chakraborty had a financial transaction with a drug peddler, the NCB’s noose around her tightened.

NCB sources also say that the expenses of drugs were mostly taken care of from Sushant Singh Rajput’s account. Samuel Miranda had all the money of house expenses. It is from this money that Samuel used to buy drugs. However, during the lockdown, Samuel had gone on a leave and Mumbai drug peddlers had lesser supply of drugs. In this scenario, Rhea’s brother, Showik Chakraborty contacted the drug peddlers directly.

Before the lockdown, Showik had mostly brought drugs from Zaid Vilatra, and Kaizan Ebrahim.

The NCB had also accessed chats of Showik in which there is a mention of a man named Karamjeet aka KJ. Karamjeet has been taken into custody by the NCB today. Showik Chakraborty’s friend, Naman Ahulwalia, also had contacts with drug peddlers, sources say. Ahluwalia will also be questioned by the NCB.
