A man in Madhya Pradesh secured funds to start his own barbershop by demonstrating his skills on a minister in public.
The incident took place at Gulaimal in Khandwa district on Thursday. During a function, Rohidas, a local resident, requested forest minister Vijay Shah for financial help to start a hair salon. The minister called Rohidas to the stage and asked him to give him a hair cut and shave.
Rohidas agreed and gave the minister a hair cut and shave then and there on the dais. He was wearing a mask.
Satisfied with his talent, the minister handed over to him Rs 60,000.
Speaking to news agency PTI about the incident, Forest Minister Vijay Shah said that he not only helped a youth facing problems due to Covid-19 restrictions but also helped instill confidence in people that it was safe to get such services if all precautions are taken properly.
“These people are facing problems because of Covid-19 restrictions and are jobless for the last few months. I got my hair cut on the spot to give confidence to people that it is safe if precautions are taken,” the minister said.
The money was paid from the minister’s discretionary fund, he said.
He also said that the government would provide loans through banks to the youth who want to start their own small businesses. They will only have to repay the principal amount while the state government will pay the interest, the minister said.
